INSTRUCTORS

As Get Fit Today has grown from just a few members on day one to the incredible numbers we see in the park at every session now, we have recruited extra instructors as well.

We only recruit the very best and provide ongoing training to them in how to effectively deliver fun, friendly and challenging outdoor groups exercise classes and we pride ourselves on being the best at doing so.  We currently have 7 instructors including Pete & Owen who are the founders of Get Fit Today together with Ryan, Claire, Jake, Jules and Emily.  Every instructor has their own style and experience whether that is as a sports therapist, serving military PTI or the former British and Intercontinental Thai Boxing champion.  The main thing is, every one of them will deliver the very best in group outdoor exercise!

Pete

Pete Gill, founder of Get Fit Today

Founder of Get Fit Today

Pete is a qualified personal trainer, outdoor fitness instructor, running coach and Level 2 Nutritional coach.

 

Pete delivered his first exercise class back in 1991 whilst in the British Army, where he gained a love of fitness and coaching, going on to instruct officer safety training and first aid in the police.

Pete gained his level 1,2 & 3 qualification in fitness instruction in 2012 and since then has delivered around 1,000 exercise classes all around the UK – with every session being different to the last and the focus being on making it fun and challenging! 

Ryan

Ryan Gill,  instructor at Get Fit Today

Fitness Instructor

Ryan is a qualified serving PTI (Physical Training Instructor) within the British Army and also an outdoor fitness instructor. 

 

Ryan has been in the British Army for 6+ years and has always had a love for fitness and helping people get fitter. Ryan regularly delivers both individual training and also takes classes of up to 200 soldiers.

 

Ryan gained his level 1 & 2 fitness qualifications in 2015 and then his PTI qualification in 2017.  Since then he has delivered thousands of varied sessions all of which are challenging yet enjoyable.

 

Ryan is also a keen snowboarder and is currently looking to complete a BASI snowboarding instructor course.

Claire

Claire Relly,  instructor at Get Fit Today

Personal Trainer

Claire is a Personal Trainer specialising in Thai Boxing and Strength & Conditioning.

 

She holds a level 2 and 3 Fitness Instructor qualifications and loves doing outdoor training sessions.

 

Claire is the former British and Intercontinental Thai Boxing champion having trained for over 20 years and instructed for over 15 years teaching both adults and juniors. She still trains regularly now.

 

She also has a love of photography and travel and often combines the two.

Claire joined out team in June 2020 and has proved herself to be a popular, talented instructor

Emily

Fitness Instructor

Emily is a group fitness instructor and also a licensed Zumba instructor.

 

She has always had a love for fitness, which started with a dance background from the age of 5!

 

Since 2005 Emily has been a keen runner and triathlete, and taken part in various distance events. Emily has now moved into the fitness world full time, and enjoys teaching various different concepts.

 

With 2 young boys she is certainly kept on her toes, but when she has the time she enjoys travelling and socialising!

Owen

Owen Thomas, founder of Get Fit Today

Founder of Get Fit Today

Owen is a qualified personal trainer, sports therapist, stroke rehab therapist, boot camp & outdoor fitness instructor and British army reservist. 

 

Since qualifying in 1995, Owen has worked as a successful sports therapist, running his own business and working for semi and professional rugby teams including Kettering and Bugbrooke rugby club and Northampton Saints.  In addition to this, Owen has instructed at several residential bootcamps as well as delivering outdoor fitness sessions for a national company.  Owen's unique blend of enthusiasm, encouragement and humour will bring out the very best in you and help you to achieve excellent results.

Jules

Julie Thomas, instructor at Get Fit Today

Fitness Instructor

Julie has been working within the fitness industry for 15yrs+. Julie has qualifications in weight training, aqua fit and child protection in sport & active leisure.

Whilst working in a leisure centre environment, Julie has delivered indoor circuit classes, personal tuition, aqua fit and outdoor training classes.

Outside of work, Julie has climbed to Everest Base Camp, competed in OCR races, is an open water lifeguard and a lifesaving Trainer Assessor. Julie’s love of fitness makes her a great addition to Get Fit Today - to meet her and the other trainers come along to any of our outdoor fitness classes in Abington Park.

Jake

Jake,  instructor at Get Fit Today

Personal Trainer

Jake is a qualified personal trainer and fitness instructor. "I enjoy sharing my knowledge whilst encouraging and inspiring others to lead healthy active lifestyles, reaping the rewards that regular exercise has on the body."

Whilst studying through 2019 I gained experience with outdoor bootcamps before moving inside the gym leading a range of group classes and 1:1 sessions.

For my own training, running, lifting heavy weights and bodyweight exercise are my favourites (along with sweet treats!)

Simon

Personal Trainer

Simon is a personal trainer and fitness instructor who has been delivering outdoor fitness classes for 14 yrs+

 

Simon gained his love for fitness at a young age and this lead to him becoming a national level rower. 

 

Simon also joined the army reserves, where he became a qualified PTI and represents his regiment at cross country skiing (yes… we think it’s a bit strange too!).  

 

When not on the slopes then he is a strong runner and has completed numerous marathons, half marathon and other running events.
