BMR Calculator
This calculator will tell you your BMI and BMR which is the number of calories (on average) your body burns every day whilst resting. Please complete your details below.
BMI
Body mass index (BMI) is a measure that uses your height and weight to work out if your weight is healthy. This does not take into account muscle mass so can sometimes be misleading, but it is a useful metric to know as it one that your GP will generally use.
Here is the BMI scale:
-
Below 18.5 – you're in the underweight range
-
Between 18.5 and 24.9 – you're in the healthy weight range - this is where we should aim to be
-
Between 25 and 29.9 – you're in the overweight range
-
30 or over – you're in the obese range
BMR
BMR stands for Basal Metabollic Rate and is the approximate number of calories that your body burns during normal daily activity (sleeping, working, watching TV etc). This does not include exercise which will increase your calorie burn further.
